Superstar Chefs Currence, Besh, Folse, Lagasse, Samuelsson, Spicer Celebrate Leah Chase’s 90th

At the Gala Celebration on Saturday night, January 5, 2013, chefs contributing dishes inspired by the food and spirit of Mrs. Chase will include John Besh, John Currence, John Folse, Emeril Lagasse, Marcus Samuelsson, and Susan Spicer. Each chef (or team, in instances when they’re working together) will be a part of the official program, introducing their dishes as they are served.
The weekend celebration not only marks Mrs. Chase’s 90th birthday, but will launch the Dooky and Leah Chase Family Foundation. The foundation is being established to continue the legacy of the pair’s tireless work to uplift their community and work for social justice through support of the creative and culinary arts. The schedule for the weekend includes:
FRIDAY. A special lunch on Friday with Dooky and Leah Chase at Dooky Chase Restaurant. To accommodate as many as possible, there will be three seatings at 11:00 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. The menu will be composed of some of Mrs. Chase’s favorite and most memorable dishes, and she and Dooky will be in the dining room hosting a conversation throughout the meal.
SATURDAY. A reception at 6:00 p.m. followed by the birthday gala at 7:30 p.m., both at the Hyatt Regency.
